| When Billy Craig, Boulder, WY began roping five years ago, he never really thought he would have 8 Shoot Out spots in the 2008 USTRC Finals. Billy contributes his success to purchasing Kary McNeill trained rope horses. At the end of 2007, Billy spent a week at Ranch 108 just trying out horses – looking for the “right one”. Prior to his stay at the McNeill’s, Billy had bought several horses and tried even more out, but they were never really broke. During that trip to Texas, Billy purchased AQHA registered “Tex Sun O’Lena” from Kary and in February 2008 Billy and Tex won $4800 and Billy’s first USTRC saddle.
Billy was impressed with the quality of horse he had purchased and his confidence escalated. Billy and Tex continued to win. Roping in the Jackson Hole, WY World Series won him $5400 and he won the #11 at the Red Desert Classic and the Jonah Field Classic this summer. Billy continued to enter and win jackpot ropings along with USTRC ropings and has won over $35,000 and 4 saddles in 2008 – 2 saddles were won in USTRC competition. Billy purchased his second AQHA horse ,“Jag” ,from Kary during the summer of 2008. Billy and Jag entered and won the #12 Gold Plus Incentive at the High Plains Regional Finals in Cheyenne, WY. “McNeill horses are broke and they stay broke”, says Billy. He is more than pleased by Tex and Jag. Kary is always his “go-to” guy when he needs a little help refining his technique or tuning on his horses. “I would definitely recommend a McNeill trained rope horse for anyone that is looking to win”.
